National Night Out 2009 will be held on Tuesday August 4, 2009 from 6:00p-8:00p at multiple locations throughout the City (see below for full list of locations.)

National Night Out is an annual event aimed at heightening crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and most importantly, sending a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Join the Glendale Police Department, your friends, neighbors, and colleagues in coming out against crime on the evening of August 4!

COPPS Issues

200 E. Los Feliz

Various calls for service involving assisted living center. I will involve the ombudsman to reduce the calls for service, which were 10 last month.

Windsor Mini-Park

There is a continued problem with people being in the park after hours causing noise disturbance, drinking, and littering.

Central Library

There is a continued problem with homeless people gathering at the library, drinking in public, littering, and being a nuisance.

1500 E. Garfield

The residence is red tagged by code enforcement and is a tagged biohazard. Patrol has responded to for burglary calls but has been unable to check the interior due to the biohazard. I am working with patrol officer Young and code enforcement to have the property locked down.

Palmer Park

There is an issue with large parties playing loud music during weekends. This has been a consistent problem at many Glendale Parks.

500 Palm

There is an abandoned house posted for rent where juveniles have been detained for marijuana possession and trespassing. I have been in contact with the owner to properly secure his property and send in a trespass letter.

1600 Cielito

I was informed this residence is abandoned and the front door is consistently open. There have not been any calls for service to this point, but involved Code Enforcement to prevent this from becoming a location where lewd and/or narcotic activity takes place.

400 W. Stocker

Ofc. Zakarian and I handled a neighbor dispute.

300 W. Stocker

Ofc. Zakarian and I handled a developing problem with a juvenile

900 E. Dryden

I assisted in a neighbor dispute.

900 Norton

I continued working this issue by working with Children’s Protective Services who was removing three children from the home. I also assisted the female adult with getting a Temporary Restraining Order.

Maple/Glendale

Parking issue at Best Bakery

Elk/Glendale

Pedestrian traffic issue

Roosevelt Middle School

I continued to provide police presence at the middle school two times a day/two times per week, every other week. Ofc. Annis covered the detail the other weeks I was not there.
